Loni -- I keep coming back to see the new postings several times a day, too. Bob's trying to keep a stiff upper lip, but I'm blubbering like a baby. Wish I could hug you. Will see -- unfortunately -- soon at the service.
Love,

I took many lessons with Ted over the years, starting in the late 70's (Dale' guitars). My last was in november of '04. The music community, not just the guitar community, has lost a giant. I would love to attend the memorial.

Dan,

Adam and yourself are doing a great service to the memory of Ted Greene. We should all aspire to receive the outpouring of love and friendship at the end of our journey as Ted is being shown here. "To have friends you must be one."

If I can be permitted to daydream here,I would love to see a creation of The Ted Greene Library from his amazing collection of books and music that dominated his apartment. Can you imagine the treasures there?

Please contact me for the memorial service.

Reading these tributes to Ted, I find myself saying under my breath, “yeah, me too, I second that.” I, too, viewed him as a friend, and a resource, a mentor, and a great inspiration. I imagine many of us expected to be able to see Ted play somewhere 20 years from now. Too bad. The touching tributes here have moved me greatly, and have helped to ease the sadness I feel. To be associated with him made you proud to be a guitar player. To hear and watch him play was to be inspired, moved and awed by the unbelievable combination of artistry, technique, musicality, soulfulness, and sensitivity. To visit with him was a joy. Please let me know about the memorial.

Hi Dan
Thank you for getting this blog going.

I was worried that people eager to be supportive would have no way to contact family members and friends.

I would like to see a Ted Greene foundation created that supports the education of guitarists who lack the means or opportunity to pursue their guitar studies.

There seems to be a number of off-hand recordings of Ted that could be compiled and released, with part of the proceeds going to support this foundation. There are undoubtedly many pages of teaching materials that could also be compiled into a number of books.

Please add me + 1 to the people wishing to participate in Ted's Memorial.

Derek Dickson
derek@derekdickson.com

PS Dan - Please call or email me if possible.

I have known Ted since 1966 and have recently been taking lessons with him again.

Ted Greene, gone too soon
Ted Greene is gone. I can't believe it.

Ted was probably the kindest and most prolific person I've ever known. Even though I haven't been able to keep in constant contact, I've always felt he was one of my best life long friends. He is responsible for the majority of whatever musical abilities I have and had a major effect on my life for the better. He did more for furthering guitar harmony than anyone I know of. When I sat with Ted, he always inspired me, always made me feel I could accomplish anything on the instrument that I desired. That's what made him one of the greatest teachers of all time.

The planet is, and will always be a better place for his visit.

Good Bye my friend, I will miss you,

Yeah I'll be there - just tell me where and when. I never took formal lessons from Ted apart from studying his books, but I used to run into him down at Chris' Guitars down on Lankershim Blvd and we've sat on the floor playing together a few times. He once complimented me on my right hand technique and at that point I felt I had been blessed by the Pope to "go forth and play the guitar". Rest easy Ted. My recording studio is also available for any work regarding the compiling, editing, restoration, etc of any future Ted Greene music releases.
